About the Institute of Public Theology
The Institute of Public Theology exists to serve the Triune God of the Holy Scriptures by equipping godly men with the education, aptitude, character, and conviction requisite for effective leadership in the local church.
Why IOPT
Why a Liberal Arts Education from The Institute of Public Theology?

Christianity is not a private religion.
Our Lord’s virgin birth was heralded on earth by heavenly beings. Christ was baptized out in the open. He testified in broad daylight that He was the Son of God. He was crucified before the eyes of a watching world. He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven in the presence of many witnesses. His followers have carried on this public witness ever since. The apostle Paul, for example, testified before Roman officials, declaring:
“For the king knows about these things, and to him I speak boldly. For I am persuaded that none of these things has escaped his notice, for this has not been done in a corner.” (Acts 26:26)
Christianity was never meant to be hidden away. But the modern world has sought to confine it. Today, many assume that faith belongs only within the four walls of a church or home, while public life—whether in education, business, government, or the arts—must remain thoroughly secular. The result has been a society untethered from transcendent truth, operating on pragmatism rather than principle.
The Liberal Arts Bachelor of Arts training at the Institute of Public Theology (IOPT) exists to equip men and women with the knowledge, wisdom, and skills to bring the truth of God’s Word to bear in the public square. This fully online program provides a robust liberal arts education with emphases in Public Theology, Business, and Classical Christian Education, preparing students to engage culture with clarity and conviction.
As Abraham Kuyper famously said, “There is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry, ‘Mine!’” Whether in education, commerce, media, or ministry, Christians must not retreat from the world—they must shape it. That requires an education rooted in unshakable truth, not fleeting cultural trends.
At IOPT, we train students to understand the times, think critically, communicate effectively, and lead courageously in their chosen fields. Our online format allows students to pursue their degree without uprooting their lives, making this rigorous education accessible and affordable.
The world needs Christians who are not only faithful but also well-equipped. Will you be one of them?
Our Distinctives
What are some of the qualities that make training at the Institute of Public Theology unique?
The Institute of Public Theology offers a rigorous liberal arts education rooted in a biblical worldview. Our students pursue traditional Bachelor of Arts degrees in fields such as Business, Classical Christian Education, and Public Theology. What makes IOPT distinct is our deep integration of Scripture and theology into the general education core. Whether students are preparing for ministry, education, business, or other vocations, they will be equipped not only with professional knowledge but also with the biblical and theological clarity necessary to live faithfully in an increasingly confused world. Rather than compartmentalizing faith and learning, IOPT trains students to think Christianly across every discipline. Our curriculum includes robust instruction in theology, philosophy, and worldview studies to help students understand the Bible more deeply and apply it more confidently—wherever God calls them. Whether entering the marketplace, the classroom, or the public square, our graduates are prepared to speak God’s truth with courage and conviction. We are committed to forming students who are both intellectually sharp and spiritually steadfast—men and women who will engage the world with wisdom and truth, grounded in
Christ and unashamed of the gospel.
Train students to understand and apply Scripture with precision, understand the times, and address contemporary issues from a biblical worldview.
Develop students' ability to articulate and defend the Christian faith boldly in public settings and to engage with political, cultural, and ethical issues without compromise.
Foster a deep conviction in the inerrancy and sufficiency of God’s Word as the foundation for every area of life, including civil and cultural engagement.
Counter the secularization of public spaces by teaching students to reclaim the Lordship of Christ over all aspects of human existence, echoing the truth that “Christ is Sovereign over all.”
Move beyond procedural or pragmatic approaches to ministry by grounding liberal arts training for work in the modern world with preparation in theological depth, critical thinking, and the pursuit of transcendent truth.
Ensure that students are equipped to bring the truths of Scripture into the public square, demonstrating that Christianity is not merely private but speaks authoritatively to all aspects of life.
Equip students to navigate the cost, danger, and challenges of living faithfully in an increasingly hostile cultural environment, encouraging resilience and steadfastness.
Leverage modern technology to deliver high-quality theological education to students worldwide, ensuring accessibility while maintaining academic rigor and doctrinal faithfulness. This allows students to pursue a Bachelor’s degree from the context of their local church.
